Do iguanas make good pets ?

Yes, like a vast majority of reptiles, iguanas can be good pets. However, they are NOT good pets for a first time reptile owner- for beginner reptile owners in general. Iguanas are large- up to seven feet long-, need mive cages, and need a very carefully regulated diet. You can't feed an iguana average leftover salad. Iguanas also are vulnerable to all kinds of medical issues. Most importantly, iguanas become extremely violent during their breeding season, and will attack even their masters. Their tail whip can draw blood, and their claws and teeth are sharp. Sadly, many pet stores still sell iguanas because their popularity in the media. As a result, most iguanas end up being given away or even sold as food because they grow too large for their owners to manage.
