How do i know if a guy is using me?

We went out for like 9 days, and im only 14 and hes 16 so i decide im way to young and put it on hold until im old enough and he is waiting for me. We text all the time, he can be so sweet then sometimes be soooo rude and mean..he insist he likes me and whenever he says goodbye he says by hotty... then at our local rodeo he sat right infront of me and didn't say a word to me..after i texted him and aked why and he say i had other people to talk to so that is what i did...soooo idk if hes using me or what??? help???
