Does the pope spread germs when he touches children?

I’m watching the news right now and there’s a story about the pope in Cyprus. There’s a crowd of people and they’re all holding out their children and babies to be touched by the pope. It only takes one of those children to have a flu virus or a gastric bacterial infection and then they will all have it thanks to the pope’s touch. Why are these people more concerned about the pope’s touch than they are about germ transmission?
