Are we really safe from terrorists?

In a recent news story, government investigators tested airport screening's ability to prevent terrorist attacks by trying to get bomb parts past airport security. They Succeeded in this endeavor. Obviously, this raises some questions about OUR safety as Americans. What are your thoughts on this?
